GF91.60-D-4111H SRS Airbag Indicator/Warning Lamp, Component Description

Shown with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km

A1e22 SRS warning lamp

Location

The SRS warning lamp is located in the instrument cluster (A1).

Task

The SRS warning lamp in the instrument cluster is used to check the function of the supplemental restraint system (SRS). In the event of an error, a fault message additionally appears in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster on vehicles with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km. If the transmitter key (A8/1) is turned to position 1, "Circuit 15R ON", the SRS warning lamp lights up and goes out again after approx. t = 4 s. If this is not the case, an SRS fault is present.

Fault

Faults or malfunctions that do not endanger the protection of the occupants are present, if the SRS warning lamp lights up in position 1 of the transmitter key, "Circuit 15R ON", for significantly longer than t = 4 s. On vehicles with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km, a fault message is additionally shown in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster, stating "SRS RESTRAINT SYSTEM, VISIT WORKSHOP".

Faults or malfunctions which could lead to no or incorrect triggering of the safety elements, are indicated when the engine is running "Circuit 61 ON" by the continuous illumination of the SRS warning lamp. When such a fault occurs occupant protection can no longer be guaranteed. On vehicles with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km, a fault message is additionally shown in the multifunction display of the instrument cluster, stating "SRS RESTRAINT SYSTEM, VISIT WORKSHOP".

Parameterization

If the control unit that is installed depending on the variant is not parameterized (taught in), this is indicated by the flashing SRS warning lamp. If the SRS has an additional fault, then it is displayed. The indication of the parameterization has a lower priority.

In the event of a fault or malfunction, the entire SRS should be checked immediately using STAR DIAGNOSIS. The mechanical protection function of the seat belts is independent from the control unit that is installed depending on the variant and is not monitored by the SRS.

A distinction between the equipment variants is made as follows:
- Lowline airbag control unit (N2/14), except code (SH6) Thorax bag for driver (in seat backrest), except code (SH7) Thorax bag for driver and front passenger (in seat backrest) and except code (SH9) Window bag for driver and front passenger
- Highline airbag control unit (N2/15), with code (SH6) Thorax bag for driver (in seat backrest), with code (SH7) Thorax bag for driver and front passenger (in seat backrest) or with code (SH9) Window bag for driver and front passenger
