Location

The passenger-side Window bag unit with the right Window bag squib and the driver-side Window bag unit with the left Window bag squib (R12/16) are installed along with the associated filling pipe at the inside of the respective roof frame behind the paneling.

Task

The passenger-side Window bag unit or the driver-side Window bag unit supplements the effect of the driver thorax bag unit or of the front passenger thorax bag unit in the event of a side impact. The passenger-side Window bag unit or the driver-side Window bag unit protects the head area of the front passenger on the affected side in the event of a side impact.

In order to prevent inadvertent triggering, the left Window bag squib and the right Window bag squib are equipped with a short circuit bridge, which automatically short circuits the connection if the coupling is disconnected.
