AR46.10-D-0200-01H Set the Clock Spring Contact to Center Position

The center position of the clock spring contact (2) is crucial for the trouble-free function of the airbag/signaling system. On the new part this is guaranteed by a securing clamp (3).

If the clock spring contact (2) is twisted nevertheless, e.g.
^ if steering coupling is removed,
^ if auxiliary retainer is released,
^ if securing clamp on new part is detached,

The center position is to be determined as follows:

1 Remove clock spring contact (2).
2 Remove all mounting bolts
3 Turn clock spring contact (2) as far to the left until a slight resistance is detectable.

The clock spring contact (2) is rolled up completely.

4 Turn (turn back) clock spring contact (2) approx. 2.5 revolutions clockwise until the opening (arrow) for the securing clamp (3) as well as the bolt holes (4) overlap.

The entire rotation range of the clock spring contact (2) is approx. 5.5 revolutions.

5 Secure clock spring contact (2) in this position using securing clamp (3) or an auxiliary retainer (adhesive strip, Allen wrench SW3 or suitable sheet metal screw).

The securing clamp (3) is only supplied together with a new clock spring contact (2).
