Location
30 AdBlue(R) tank
32 AdBlue(R) extraction tank
R51 AdBlue(R) tank heating element
The AdBlue(R) tank heating element is located in the AdBlue(R) extraction tank.
Task
The AdBlue(R) tank heating element warms the AdBlue(R) reducing agent in the AdBlue(R) extraction tank at cold temperatures.
Function
The AdBlue(R) tank heating element consists of a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) heating element and is actuated by the AdBlue(R) control unit (N141) according to the temperature detected by the AdBlue tank temperature sensor (R51b1). The power consumption is self-regulated via the PTC behavior of the heating element.
The electrical resistance of the PTC heating element increases with an increasing temperature.
