GF40.15-D-5125HH Wheel Antenna, Component Description
Shown on model 906.6, rear decoder antenna
A2/111 Rear RDK decoder antenna
Location
The front RDK decoder antenna (A2/110) is located on the right-hand side of the body (up to 31.12.2010). For vehicles as of 1.1.2011 the front tire pressure monitor antenna decoder is integrated as a receiver unit in the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88/1). The rear RDK decoder antenna is located on the left-hand side of the undercarriage.
Task
The rear RDK decoder antenna transmits the current sensor information from the right rear TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/3) and left rear TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/4) to the TPM [RDK] control unit. The front RDK decoder antenna transmits the current sensor information from the left front TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/1) and right front TPM [RDK] wheel sensor (A69/2) to the TPM [RDK] control unit (up to 31.12.2010).
For vehicles as of 1.1.2011 the front wheel sensors sends the sensor information directly per radio frequency to the TPM [RDK] control unit.
Function
The rear wheel sensors send intermittent data packages (sensor information) over a radio signal path to the rear tire pressure monitor antenna decoder. For vehicles up to 31.12.2010, the front wheel sensors send intermittent data packages over the radio signal path to the front tire pressure monitor antenna decoder. For vehicles as of 1.1.2011, the front wheel sensors also send intermittent data packages over the radio signal path to the TPM [RDK] control unit. These data packages are necessary for assigning the respective wheel sensors when the tire pressure monitoring (TPM) system is activated. They are forwarded by the rear tire pressure monitor antenna decoder and the front tire pressure monitor antenna decoder (up to 31.12.2010) over the Local Interconnect Network (LIN) to the TPM [RDK] control unit.
