N30/4 ESP control unit
CAN-C Controller Area Network, bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C)
Networking of components
The components below are read in by the CDI control unit, with engine 642:
- Engine oil sensor
- Coolant temperature sensor
- Crankshaft sensor
The components below are read in by the CDI control unit (N3/21), with engine 646:
- Engine oil sensor (B40/5)
- Coolant temperature sensor
- Crankshaft sensor (L5/7)
The components below are read in by the CDI control unit (N3/28), with engine 651:
- Engine oil level sensor (B40/6) with integrated engine oil temperature sensor (B40/9)
- Coolant temperature sensor (B11/17)
- Crankshaft sensor (L5/10)
Then the CDI control unit places the following messages on CAN C:
- "T_OEL (oil temperature)", "OEL_FS (oil level)" und "OEL_QUAL (oil quality)"
- "T_MOT (engine coolant temperature)"
- "NMOT (engine speed)"
The ESP control unit reads in the data of the following components:
- Left front rpm sensor
- Right front rpm sensor
- Left rear rpm sensor
- Right rear rpm sensor
The ESP control unit uses the pulses to determine the wheel speeds and places the corresponding messages (e.g. "RV_ST_DVL (left front wheel speed)") on the CAN-C. The instrument cluster receives these messages and uses them to determine the vehicle speed and the distance traveled.
