Location
The side-marker lamps are located on the side of the vehicle at specified distances depending on the body length.

Task
The side-marker lamps serve for better recognizing the vehicle when visibility is poor (e.g. darkness). The side-marker lamps are also designed as reflectors. If a side-marker lamp is defective, it is still possible to recognize the vehicle in the dark, since the reflectors of the side-marker lamps reflect the incident light.
