Exterior light OFF delay time
The headlamp switch-off delay (SWA) function serves to illuminate the surrounding area with standing and front fog lamps after leaving the vehicle.
The time interval can be adjusted in the instrument cluster (A1).

The time interval can be set in increments of 15 s from 0 s to 60 s.

Function requirements:
- SWA is activated via instrument cluster
- Circuit 15 OFF
- "Night" message from the rain/light sensor (B38/2) is present

Function sequence
If the function requirements are met, the SWA feature is active for a maximum of t = 60 s. This time is independent of the time interval set in the instrument cluster When a door is opened, the time for the SWA is restarted. This applies each time a door is opened within the expiration time. When the last door is closed, the time interval selected in the instrument cluster is activated. If the SWA is active, the SAM control unit (N10) transmits the corresponding signal to the instrument cluster, whereupon the warning buzzer (A1h1) and terminal 58d are suppressed.

When the standing light is only activated due to the driving lights in the background of the SWA, the warning buzzer remains activated.

Interrupt function (exiting discretely)
When terminal 15 is switched off after the door is opened, the SWA is interrupted until the function requirements are met again.
Abort conditions:
- Circuit 15 ON
- Anti-theft alarm system (ATA [EDW]) alarm
- Time interval in instrument cluster set to 0 s (deactivated)

The SWA activates the following lamps, in vehicles with code (LG1) Xenon headlamps:
- Standing lamp (E1/6e3)
- Standing lamp (E2/6e3)
- Left fog lamp (E5/1)
- Right fog lamp (E5/2)

The SWA activates the following lamps, in vehicles except code (LG1) Xenon headlamps:
- Standing lamp (E1e3)
- Standing lamp (E2e3)
- Left fog lamp (E5/1)
- Right fog lamp (E5/2)
