GF82.10-D-1003HA Static Curve Illumination, Function

GF82.10-D-1003HA Static Curve Illumination, Function

- with CODE (LG1) Xenon headlamps

The cornering illumination (static curve illumination) in addition to the low beam provides improved illumination of the road in city traffic. The cornering illumination represents an additional light function that is implemented using the cornering illumination (E1/6e4) via the xenon control unit (E1/6n1) and the cornering illumination (E2/6e4) via the xenon control unit (E2/6n1).
While driving forward, the particular cornering illumination lamp on the inside of the curve is switched on. When reversing, the cornering illumination lamp is actuated inversely.

Depending on the vehicle equipment, there are different function requirements for the cornering illumination.

Function requirements for forward driving and at standstill, without engaged reverse gear:
- Terminal 61 ON
- Rotary light switch (S1) in "Low beam" position or daytime running lamps active

Function requirements for reversing and at standstill, with engaged reverse gear:
- Terminal 61 ON
- Rotary light switch in "Low beam" position or daytime running lamps active
- Reverse gear is engaged

Function requirements with code (JA5) Light/rain sensor
Function requirements for forward driving and at standstill, without engaged reverse gear:
- Terminal 61 ON
- Rotary light switch in "AUTO" position (low beam request from rain/light sensor (B38/2) when darkness detected), "Low beam" or daytime running lamps active

Function requirements for reversing and at standstill, with engaged reverse gear:
- Terminal 61 ON
- Rotary light switch in "AUTO" position (low beam request from rain/light sensor when darkness detected), "Low beam" or daytime running lamps active
- Reverse gear is engaged

Left cornering illumination switched on/off when reverse gear is not engaged
Left cornering illumination is switched on under one of the following conditions:
- Steering angle sensor (N80b1) measures a steering wheel angle > 40° to the left and the vehicle speed is < 40 km/h
- Left turn signal indicator lamp is switched on and vehicle speed is < 40 km/h

Left cornering illumination is switched off again under one of the following conditions:
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle < 20° to the left
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle > 20° to the left and the vehicle speed is > 70 km/h
- Left turn signal indicator lamp is switched off
- Left turn signal indicator lamp remains switched on and vehicle speed is > 40 km/h

Right cornering illumination switched on/off when reverse gear is not engaged
Right cornering illumination is switched on under one of the following conditions:
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle > 40° to the right and the vehicle speed is < 40 km/h
- Right turn signal indicator lamp is switched on and vehicle speed is < 40 km/h

Right cornering illumination is switched off again under one of the following conditions:
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle < 20° to the right
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle > 20° to the right and the vehicle speed is > 70 km/h
- Right turn signal indicator lamp is switched off
- Right turn signal indicator lamp remains switched on and vehicle speed is > 40 km/h

Left cornering illumination switched on/off when reverse gear is engaged
Left cornering illumination is switched on under one of the following conditions:
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle > 40° to the right and the vehicle speed is < 40 km/h
- Selector lever position "R" detected in vehicles with transmission 722.6 or the signal "Backup lamp ON" of the backup lamp switch (S16/2) in vehicles with transmission 716.6

Left cornering illumination is switched off again under one of the following conditions:
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle < 20° to the right
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle > 20° to the right and the vehicle speed is > 70 km/h
- Selector lever position "R" detected in vehicles with transmission 722.6 or the signal "Backup lamp ON" of the backup lamp switch in vehicles with transmission 716.6 is no longer available

Right cornering illumination switched on/off when reverse gear is engaged
Right cornering illumination is switched on under one of the following conditions:
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle > 70° to the left and the vehicle speed is < 40 km/h
- Selector lever position "R" detected in vehicles with transmission 722.6 or the signal "Backup lamp ON" of the backup lamp switch in vehicles with transmission 716.6

Right cornering illumination is switched off again under one of the following conditions:
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle < 20° to the left
- Steering angle sensor measures a steering wheel angle > 20° to the left and the vehicle speed is > 70 km/h
- Selector lever position "R" detected in vehicles with transmission 722.6 or the signal "Backup lamp ON" of the backup lamp switch in vehicles with transmission 716.6 is no longer available

Cornering illumination switch-off procedure
The low beam function is switched off via a delayed dimmer ramp. If the circuit status changes from "circuit 15 ON" to "circuit 15 OFF", then the illumination is dimmed and switched off.

for transmission 722.6
To avoid any temporary lighting up of the cornering illumination lamps when the selector lever is moved from "P" to "D" (via "R"), the "reverse gear engaged" message is suppressed for around t = 500 ms.

When switching the cornering illumination on and off, a minor delay is programmed, which prevents any flickering of the right or left cornering illumination when driving at a speed approaching the threshold value of 40 km/h.
