GF54.30-D-0002H Instrument Cluster (IC), Function

GF54.30-D-0002H Instrument Cluster (IC), Function

The instrument cluster (A1) supplies driver information for all systems installed in the vehicle:
- Display of vehicle operating conditions
- Warning about critical operating conditions
- Central display for various systems

Integrated within the instrument cluster are:
- Display (A1p1)
- Various display instruments
- Warning and indicator lamps
- Warning buzzer (A1h1)

In addition, the instrument cluster transmits and receives signals through the Controller Area Network bus Class C (engine compartment) (CAN-C) and the Controller Area Network bus Class B (interior) (CAN-B).

There are various versions of the instrument cluster, depending on the vehicle equipment, equipment lines and engine type.

Activating the instrument cluster
Due to the black screen technology, the details on the instrument cluster do not become visible until the instrument cluster is activated. If the instrument cluster is activated, the current contents are shown on the display (A1p1) and the instrument cluster illumination is switched on.

The instrument cluster is activated by the circuit status "circuit 15g ON". When circuit 15g is switched off, the instrument cluster remains active for a further 30 s. This run-on time may be extended by 2 min if active warnings occur.
If "circuit 15g OFF", the instrument cluster is activated in the following circumstances:
- By pressing the reset button (in the instrument cluster) for 30 s
- By opening or closing of the driver door for 30 s
- With "circuit 15R ON" if the request is retracted (active for further 30 s after change to "circuit 15R OFF")
- By activation of the standing or driving lamps until the request is canceled

If one of the above conditions occurs while the instrument cluster is already active, the instrument cluster remains active for an additional 30 s from this time.
