GF83.70-D-0006H Stationary Heater (STH), Function
GF83.70-D-0006H Stationary Heater (STH), Function
- with CODE (H12) Warm water auxiliary heater
The stationary heater unit is the main component of the stationary heater (STH) system. The stationary heater unit is a compact water heater that is connected to the engine coolant circuit. In the cold season, the stationary heater unit ensures that the vehicle interior is preheated and the windshield is defogged and free of ice. Using the stationary heater unit reduces the risk of accidents by providing a clear view when starting a trip in the vehicle, and reduces the mechanical engine wear that occurs during a cold start. Using the stationary heater unit also protects the environment by reducing the amount of pollutant in exhaust emissions when starting up a warmed-up engine.
The stationary heater unit is available in the following variants by Eberspcher:
- D5WS = diesel operated, for engine OM646, OM642
- B5WS = gasoline operated, for engine M272
The stationary heater unit consists of the following components:
- Heat exchanger
- Combustor with downpipe
- Warm water auxiliary heater control unit (N33/3)
- Temperature sensor (N33/3b1)
- Flame sensor (N33/3b2)
- Overheating sensor (N33/3b3)
- Blower motor (N33/3m1) of STH combustion air blower
- Glow plug (N33/3r1)
In addition to the stationary heater unit, the STH system needs the following components:
- Stationary heater radio signal receiver (A49/4), with code (HY1) Radio remote control for auxiliary heater, for activation
- Metering pump (M46/1), to supply the fuel
- Circulation pump (M13/4), for circulating the coolant
The STH system and therefore the heater operation of the stationary heater unit can be activated or deactivated depending on the equipment installed, using the following components:
- STH radio remote control (RRC [FFB]), with code (HY1) Radio remote control for auxiliary heater
- Instrument cluster (A1), with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km
- Instrument cluster, except code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km
- Heater booster/stationary heater button (S46/11)
New USA exhaust emission legislation as of 01/2010:
Operation of the stationary heater is only possible with outside temperatures < 4 °C (39.2 °F).
To activate the STH and thus the heater operation of the stationary heater unit, the fill level of the fuel tank must be > 16 l.
Activate heater operation using the STH RRC [FFB], with code (HY1) Radio remote control for auxiliary heater up to 31.8.08
Pressing the "ON" button on the STH RRC [FFB] activates STH heater operation of the stationary heater unit with status "circuit 15 OFF", or with status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 OFF" via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
With status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 ON", heater booster (HB) operation of the stationary heater unit is activated via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
Activate heater operation using the STH RRC [FFB], with code (HY1) Radio remote control for auxiliary heater as of 1.9.08
With the RRC [FFB] switched on and the red light-emitting diode (LED) flashing on the STH RRC [FFB], the STH can be switched on by pressing the OK button.
Activate heater operation via the instrument cluster, with code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km
After adjusting and activating one of the 3 switch-on times in the instrument cluster using the + and - button (S110s1), system selection button (S111s3) and scroll forward/back button (S111s1) controls that are integrated in the multifunction steering wheel (MFL),STH heater operation of the stationary heater unit is activated with status "circuit 15 OFF", or with status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 OFF" via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
With status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 ON", HB heater operation of the stationary heater unit is activated via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
Activate heater operation via the instrument cluster, except code (JK3) High-end instrument cluster standard with speedometer in km
After adjusting and activating one of the 3 switch-on times in the instrument cluster using the heater booster/stationary heater button or the "M button" in the instrument cluster and the "+ and - button" or the "Reset button (0)" in the instrument cluster, STH heater operation of the stationary heater unit is activated with status "circuit 15 OFF", or with status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 OFF" via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
With status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 ON", HB heater operation of the stationary heater unit is activated via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
Activate heater operation using the heater booster/stationary heater button
Operating the heater booster/stationary heater button in the upper subfield activates STH heater operation of the stationary heater unit with status "circuit 15 OFF", or with status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 OFF" via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
Operating the heater booster/stationary heater button in the lower subfield activates heater booster mode of the stationary heater unit with status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 ON" via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
Stop heater operation using the STH RRC [FFB], with code (HY1) Radio remote control for auxiliary heater up to 31.8.08
After the runtime t(max) = 1 h has ended or when the "OFF" button on the STH RRC is pressed, STH heater operation of the stationary heater unit is deactivated with status "circuit 15 OFF", or with status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 OFF" using the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
With status "circuit 15 ON" and "circuit 61 ON", HB heater operation of the stationary heater unit is deactivated via the warm water auxiliary heater control unit.
The operating time of the STH can be changed using the RRC [FFB] as of 1.9.08.
Stop heater operation using the STH RRC [FFB], with code (HY1) Radio remote control for auxiliary heater as of 1.9.08
If the STH RRC [FFB] is switched on and the LED is illuminated in green, the STH can be switched off by pressing the OK button.
