GF42.35-D-2010H Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBV), Function

GF42.35-D-2010H Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBV), Function

Electronic brake force distribution (EBV) replaces the pressure-dependent or load-dependent rear axle controllers which distribute the brake force between the axles as per preset, fixed characteristics. The electronic brake force distribution function is integrated in the ESP control unit (N30/4) and operates with an additional sensor system.

The wheel speeds of all 4 wheels are monitored continuously in the ESP control unit. The electronic brake force distribution determines from the speed difference between the wheels of the front axle and rear axle the maximum permissible brake pressure for the two rear wheel brakes. Depending on the load condition the electronic brake force distribution regulates the brake pressure at the rear axle so that overbraking (on the unladen vehicle) is prevented.

When braking occurs, all the wheels slow at the same rate initially. As the brake force increases an increased slip occurs at the rear wheels. If the slip values set in the ESP control unit are exceeded, the brake pressure of the two rear wheel brakes is controlled by the traction system hydraulic unit. This takes place by actuating the corresponding solenoid valves in the traction system hydraulic unit.
