The mechanical key is only used to gain access to the vehicle only if the transmitter (radio or infrared (IR)) is defective or the batteries are discharged.
Only the door in question is unlocked or locked mechanically when using the mechanical key. When a door is opened, the driver door is automatically unlocked simultaneously (parameterizable).
The anti-theft alarm system (ATA) (with code (FY1) ATA 2 with interior protection, tow-away protection and battery-operated horn or with code (FZ4) Anti-theft alarm system with interior protection and tow-away protection or with code (FZ5) Anti-theft alarm system (ATA)), is not deactivated.
For this purpose insert transmitter key into EIS control unit (N73) to switch off the starting alarm. If the transmitter is not defective and the batteries are not discharged, it is also possible to press the "Lock" transmitter button or the "Unlock" transmitter button on the transmitter key.
