1 Place drilling template (1) onto roof paneling (3), align along the edge (arrows) and on the stop plug (3.1).
2 Use adhesive strips (2) to fasten drilling template (1) in place.
3 Drill fastening holes (5 and 6) to a diameter of dia. 6.5 mm.
4 Drill centering bore (7) to a diameter of dia 14 mm.
5 Drill open cable passage (4) using suitable stepped drill to a diameter of dia 24 mm.
6 Remove drill shavings using wet/dry vacuum cleaner
7 Apply zinc dust paint around the fastening holes (5 and 6), centering bore (7) and the cable passage (4).







8 Undo screws (8) on cover (9).
9 Remove cover (9) from base plate (10).
10 Undo screws (11) on base plate (10).
11 Remove mounting plate (12).







12 Detach protective foil (13) on double sided adhesive tape of mounting plate (12).
The following operation step is only performed for vehicles with code LB5 Center high-mounted stop lamp.

13.1 Insert mounting plate (12) through the cutout of the center high-mounted stop lamp (arrow) on the roof paneling (3) then position and press together.







The following operation step is only performed for vehicles without code LB5 Center high-mounted stop lamp.

13.2 Insert mounting plate (12) through the cutout of the rear load compartment lamp (arrow) on the roof paneling (3) then position and press together.







14 Pull supply line and video line (18) through the cable passage (17) on the roof paneling (3).
15 Fit and position base plate (10) for backup camera on roof paneling (3).
Make sure that the sealing rubber under the base plate (10) makes correct contact with the roof paneling (3), as otherwise water may enter.

16 Fasten base plate (10) using screws (11) to mounting plate (12).







17 Remove wiring harness for backup assist preinstallation (18.1) from cutout for load compartment lamp on roof paneling (3).
18 Join supply line and video line (18) with wiring harness for backup assist preinstallation (18.1).







If the door handle for the hinged rear door or the rear bumper is not visible in the field of view on the video console's monitor or on the COMAND display, the backup camera has to be re-adjusted.

19 Undo screws (10.1) on the backup camera module (10.2).
20 Adjust backup camera module (10.2) in direction of the arrow, until the field of view in the monitor lines up with the field of view of the backup camera module (10.2).
An assistant is required to help check the field of view over the monitor.

21 Attach cover (9) of base plate (10).
22 Augment cavity preservation in inner area of roof paneling (3).
