- with CODE (EH3) Universal preinstallation for networked portable CTEL

The respective portable CTEL receives a call signal over the mobile phone holder (A34/17) from the antenna amplifier (A2/18). The number of the caller is shown on the display of the respective portable CTEL (only if caller ID transmitted) and this information is sent simultaneously to the telephone control unit (A34/14). The telephone control unit places the signals on the Media Oriented System Transport (MOST).
One of the following activated audio devices receives the ringing tone:
- Radio/radio with navigation (N87/1) with code (EF9) Sound 20 radio
- Radio/radio with navigation with code (EN4) COMAND with TMC interface
- Radio/radio with navigation with code (EN8) Sound 50 APS radio

Finally the respective installed audio device ensures output of the call signal over the audio speakers.
At the same time, the radio, CD or navigation component or any component present at the AUX jack of the respective installed audio device is muted (MUTE).
Call recognition is displayed by each respective audio device. It is shown on the display of the respective portable CTEL, on the display of the respective installed audio device and on the display (A1p1) in the instrument cluster (A1).

The user can choose one of the following to accept a call:
- By pressing the "Accept phone call" button on the respective portable CTEL.
- By pressing the system selection button (S111s3) on the multifunction steering wheel (MFL).
- Pressing the "Accept call" button in the control panel of the respectively installed audio device

With the Universal Portable CTEL Interface (UPCI [UHI]) system, all calls are made using the respective portable CTEL exclusively via the hands-free system.
