GF82.62-D-0001H Antenna System (ATS), Function

Active and passive antennas
A differentiation is made between active and passive antennas as follows:
- Passive antennas do not boost the received radio signals themselves. Therefore they do not need a separate power supply.
- Active antennas have their own integrated amplifier. Therefore they require a separate power supply.

The power supply for active antennas can be set up over separate lines or over the coaxial lines, which are also used for signal transmission. In the case of the power supply over a coaxial line, separate lines are not required for the power supply.

The various antennas are matched in their specific reception and transmission ranges.

The antenna amplifier (A2/18) reads-in the following antenna variants:
- Antenna for radio reception, with code (EF9) Sound 20 radio
- Antenna for radio and telephone reception, with code (EF9) Sound 20 radio and with code (EH3) Multipurpose preinstallation for networked mobile phone
- Antenna for radio, telephone and Global Positioning System (GPS) reception, with code (EN8) Sound 50 APS radio or with code (EN4) COMAND with TMC interface and with code (EH3) Multipurpose preinstallation for networked mobile phone

Reception and transmission antennas
Some antennas are only used for receiving signals, whereas others can be used to transmit and receive.
The antennas, which only receive are:
- Antenna for radio reception, with code (EF9) Sound 20 radio
- Stationary heater radio signal receiver (A49/4), with code (HY1) Radio remote control for auxiliary heater
- Terminal connector for FBS wire antenna (A2/34-z1)
- Keyless Entry wire antenna terminal connector (A2/107-z1), with code (FY9) Key-less entry+slide

The antennas, which transmit and receive are:
- Antenna for radio and telephone reception, with code (EF9) Sound 20 radio and with code (EH3) Multipurpose preinstallation for networked mobile phone
- Antenna for radio, telephone and GPS reception, with code (EN8) Sound 50 APS radio or with code (EN4) COMAND with TMC interface and with code (EH3) Multipurpose preinstallation for networked mobile phone
- Front wheel tire pressure monitor antenna (A2/110), with code (RY2) Tire pressure monitor for front and rear axles
- Rear wheel tire pressure monitor antenna (A2/111), with code (RY2) Tire pressure monitor for front and rear axles

Networking of antennas
The components are networked as follows:
- Antenna for radio reception, with code (EF9) Sound 20 radio, is read in by the radio/radio with navigation (N87/1).
- Antenna for radio and telephone reception, with code (EF9) Sound 20 radio and with code (EH3) Multipurpose preinstallation for networked mobile phone, is read in by the radio/radio with navigation or directly by the contact plate of the mobile phone bracket (A34/17).
- Antenna for radio, telephone and GPS reception, with code (EN8) Sound 50 APS radio or with code (EN4) COMAND with TMC interface and with code (EH3) Multipurpose preinstallation for networked mobile phone, is read in by the radio/radio with navigation or directly by the contact plate of the mobile phone bracket.
- The central locking antenna is read in by the EIS [EZS] control unit (N73).
- The front wheel tire pressure monitor decoder antenna and rear wheel tire pressure monitor decoder antenna are read in by the TPM [RDK] control unit (N88/1).
