Parktronic Sensor Bracket Loose or Parktronic Activates Without Obvious
Cause
If you receive customer reports in the above model vehicles regarding either the Parktronic sensor bracket being loose or the Parktronic activates without obvious cause, the Parktronic sensor bracket on either the front or rear bumper may have become detached from the bumper (Figure 1 - shown on the front bumper).
1. Remove and disassemble affected bumper. Refer to WIS Document AR88.20-P-2000GZ (164 front bumper), AR88.20-P-2200GZ (164 rear), AR88.20-P-2000RT (251 front) and AR88.20-P-2200RT (251 bumper).
2. Remove adhesive pad from the Parktronic sensor bracket and clean bonding surface.
3. Clean the bonding surfaces on bumper cover.
4. Cut new adhesive pad to fit the Parktronic sensor bracket.
5. Stick adhesive pad on sensor bracket, insert into bumper cover and press firmly in place with approximately 20 kg (44 lbs.) of force.
6. Reassemble and reinstall affected bumper.
Note:
This repair method cannot be performed if the brackets for the Parktronic sensors are welded on (as of VIN A448514 sensors are welded).
