AH01.40-P-1000-01PI Notes on application of sealant to a timing case cover

Application of sealant to timing case cover:

Application of sealant to a timing case cover
It is particularly important to ensure freedom from oil as well as cleanliness at the blendings between the oil pan and crankcase otherwise oil leaks can occur.

The line (F) indicates the line the sealing compound is to be applied on.

Sealing surfaces must be free of oil and grease. Apply sealing compound on the surface as a bead 1.5 mm (± 0.5 mm) wide. The sealing compound must be applied within 10 minutes. The sealing compound bead must not be spread.

The sealing compound must be applied in the high range of the timing case cutouts in the central area of the sealing surface otherwise the sealing compound can slip downwards due to settling of the timing case cover.
