Function
If the vehicle speeds drops below approx. 8 km/h, the front SAM control unit switches the wiper motor back by one level. During intermittent wiping, the slowest wiper interval is selected, except with model 251 as of production period 01.06.2006, where the wiper speed is not reduced

If the rain/light sensor is present but defective, a standard shift down is made (by one level).

Function abort
If the value of 8 km/h is reached at increasing vehicle speed, the front SAM control unit automatically switches the wiper motor back to the wiper level set on the combination switch stage.
If a wiper request is initiated (interval, interval 1, interval 2, wiper stage 1 or stage 2), the speed reduction is canceled until the next time the speed drops below the speed threshold.
With model 251 before production period 31.05.2006, the speed reduction is not canceled by washing or touch wiping.
With model 251 as of production period 01.06.2006, the speed reduction is canceled by washing or touch wiping.
