GF82.30-P-5000RT Combination Switch, Component Description

Component Identification:

Location
The combination switch is mounted on the steering column. It is connected directly to the steering column module.

Task
The combination switch serves the following functions: Turn signaling, one-touch turn signaling, high and low beams, headlamp flasher, windshield wiping and windshield washing.

Design
The combination switch contains the following switches:
- Left and right turn signal switch (S4s1)
- Headlamp flasher/high beam switch (S4s2)
- Low beam switch (S4s3)
- Windshield washer system switch (S4s4)
- Wipe switch (S4s5)

Control of the individual functions:

^ Flash on and off
The turn signal is activated by pressing the combination switch upward for the right side and downward for the left side beyond the detent point.

^ One-touch turn signaling
One-touch turn signaling is activated by briefly pressing the combination switch upward for the right side and downward for the left side as far as the detent point. The turn signal flashes three times.

^ Main and low beams
The high beam is activated by pressing the combination switch forward. Switching over from high beam to low beam takes place by pulling back the combination switch to the zero position.

^ Headlight flasher
The headlamp flasher is activated for as long as the combination switch is pulled to the rear.

^ Windshield washer system
The windshield washer system is switched on by pressing the combination switch in the axial direction.

The signals of the combination switch are read in by the steering column module and made available to the relevant control units via the Controller Area Network bus class B (interior) (CAN-B).

^ Wiper system (WSA)
The windshield wipers are switched on by turning the front part of the combination switch.
