GF00.20-P-2007RT Remaining Distance, Function

GF00.20-P-2007RT Remaining distance, function
- MODEL 251.1 /0 up to Model Year 8

The warning threshold for the remaining distance serves to determine the kilometer or mileage figure from which the vehicle user is informed with an appropriate warning, at the earliest before reaching the point in time for the service calculated by ASSYST PLUS.
The warning threshold for the remaining distance is primarily decisive for the service warning if the remaining distance reaches the service warning threshold before the remaining time. ASSYST takes the engine oil quality into consideration when calculating the time until the next service (engine 113.971 only). The ASSYST PLUS warning threshold is stored in the central gateway control unit (N93) and can be adjusted using STAR DIAGNOSIS.

The following driving conditions are taken into consideration:
- Cold starts
- Engine speeds
- Short-distance trips
- Oil refillings (engine 113.971 only)

The driver thus receives a quantity rebate which can extend the remaining distance and therefore the service interval. Whether the vehicle is actually being driven or whether the engine is idling is also taken into consideration. To this end, ASSYST is continuously provided with data regarding the vehicle's current operating conditions. In the event of optimum evaluation, only 0.6 km are calculated for each kilometer covered.

In the event of unfavorable evaluation of the route (e.g. frequent short-distance runs, many cold starts), the remaining distance, and therefore the service interval, are less than in the event of favorable evaluation (assuming equal quality factors).
With the most unfavorable evaluation, up to 3 km are added on for every kilometer driven or up to 3 miles for every mile driven.

Display of remaining distance
This is displayed corresponding to the setting in kilometers or miles in the multifunction display (A1p13) of the instrument cluster (A1):
- On driver request
- Automatically after reaching the warning threshold after the setting of the EIS [EIS] control unit (N73) to position "circuit 15 ON" or after starting of the engine. For t = 10 s, the service symbol and "Service X in X km"or "Service X in X miles" are displayed.
- Automatically when the remaining distance has expired after the setting of the EIS [EIS] control unit to position "circuit 15 ON" or after starting the engine. The service symbol and the display "Perform Service X" appear for t = 10 sec.
- Automatically before and after exceeding the remaining distance by more than 100 km/50 miles after the setting of the EIS [EZS] control unit to position "circuit 15 ON" or after starting the engine. For t = 10 s, the service symbol and "Service X exceeded by X km"or "Service X exceeded by X miles" are displayed. In addition, the driver is also given this information via a warning tone.

The remaining distance is displayed as standard. However, so that the attention of drivers of vehicles with low annual mileage is also drawn to a due service, the time information is also always processed in the background. The remaining distance is compared with the remaining time on a daily basis. Under certain preconditions the display changes over and the remaining time is displayed.

If ASSYST is missing measured values, e.g. due to the failure of a sensor, substitute values stored in the control units are used. A corresponding entry is made in the fault memory of the central gateway control unit.
