GF77.20-P-3004RT Tilting/Sliding Roof Obstruction Sensor, Function
GF77.20-P-3004RT Tilting/Sliding Roof Obstruction Sensor, Function
- with CODE (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof
- up to model year 08
Obstruction protection
The tilting/sliding roof is provided with an excessive force limiter to protect against injuries from pinching body limbs. This function is active only during automatic closing, standard closing and convenience closing of the sliding roof. The power consumption of the SR motor (M12m1) is monitored and compared with a reference current, stored in the EEPROM of the overhead control panel control unit (N70) An increased power consumption is evaluated as pinching. The EKS function is activated during the automatic closing function and during rain closing of the sliding roof. When pinching is recognized, the tilting/sliding roof is reversed by actuating the SR motor with the overhead control panel control unit, i.e. moved in the opposite direction to that which produced the pinching (only in closing mode).
The EKS function can be switched off via the diagnostic interface. The manual functions and lock-up characteristics are still active as with SR without EKS. All automatic closing motions are then inhibited.
If the tilting/sliding roof is in the tilted position, it is moved to the upper tilting stop. The open tilting/sliding roof is opened 125 mm, if it was at least 125 mm away from the rear stop at the time pinching was recognized.
The reversing mode cannot be interrupted when a switch on the tilting/sliding roof is actuated.
If the tilting/sliding roof is closer to the rear stop, it is opened completely. When the Hall sensors fail, it is ensured that the tilting/ sliding roof is reversed within t 1 s when it is at least 150 mm from the rear stop. Then the tilting/sliding roof is denormalized, if the Hall sensors are still absent If the tilting/sliding roof is near the rear limit stop it will be switched off immediately since no mechanical load may be placed on the stop.
When the excessive force limiter is defective or when the obstruction sensor is deactivated via diagnosis, it is not possible to automatically open or close the tilting/sliding roof
