GF77.20-P-3004GZ Tilting/Sliding Roof Obstruction Sensor, Function

GF77.20-P-3004GZ Tilting/sliding roof obstruction sensor, function
- 164 with CODE (414) Power glass tilting/sliding roof up to Model Year 8

Obstruction protection
The tilting/sliding roof is provided with an excess force limiter to protect against injuries from pinching body limbs. This function is active only during automatic closing, standard closing and convenience closing. During this procedure, the power consumption of the SR motor (M12m1) is monitored and compared with the reference current stored in the EPROM of the overhead control panel control unit (N70). An increased power consumption is evaluated as pinching. When pinching is recognized, the tilting/sliding roof is reversed by actuating the SR motor with the overhead control panel control unit, i.e. moved in the opposite direction to that which produced the pinching.

The EKS function can be switched off via the diagnosis interface. The manual functions and the lock-up characteristics are still active as on the SR without EKS.All automatic closing motions are then inhibited.

If the tilting/sliding roof is in the tilted position, it is moved to the upper tilting stop. The opened sliding roof is opened s=125 mm if it has a distance of more than s= 125 mm to the rear stop at the time of the pinching.

If the tilting/sliding roof is closer to the rear stop, it is opened completely. When the Hall sensors fail, it is ensured that the tilting/ sliding roof is reversed within t 1 s when it is at least 150 mm from the rear stop. Then the tilting/sliding roof is denormalized, if the Hall sensors are still absent

If the tilting/sliding roof is near the rear limit stop, it will be switched off immediately since no mechanical load may be placed on the stop.

If the excess force limiter is active or the pinch protection is deactivated via diagnosis, it is not possible to open or close the tilting/sliding roof automatically.

An excess force limiter of the vent window (model 164.8) is realized via the left vent window obstruction sensor strip (B51/5) and right vent window obstruction sensor strip (B51/6).
