Refrigerant Pressure Sensor / Switch: Description and Operation

GF83.40-P-2193RT Refrigerant Pressure Sensor, Component Description

Component Identification:

Location
The refrigerant pressure sensor is located in the engine compartment at the front left on the high pressure line between the refrigerant compressor (A9) and condenser.

Task
The refrigerant pressure sensor records the refrigerant pressure. The reading is read in by the AAC control and operating unit (N22) or comfort AAC control and operating unit (N22/7).

Detecting the refrigerant pressure
The refrigerant pressure sensor records the refrigerant pressure and forwards the determined value over the front SAM control unit (N10) and CAN-B to the AAC [KLA] control and operating unit or the comfort AAC [KLA] control and operating unit. This value is compared against a stored pressure curve.
The refrigerant pressure sensor operates in a pressure value range of 0 to 35 bar.

Left refrigerant compressor cutout
The refrigerant compressor is cut out if the following values are given.
^ Refrigerant pressure < 1.7 bar = Refrigerant compressor OFF
^ Refrigerant pressure > 30 bar = Refrigerant compressor OFF

Cut-in of electric suction fan engine and AC with integrated control (M4/7)
The electric suction fan engine and AC with integrated control is actuated at the following values:

^ Refrigerant pressure < 12 bar = Suction fan OFF
^ Refrigerant pressure > 20 bar = Suction fan ON (100 %)
^ Refrigerant pressure 12 to 20 bar = Continuously linear speed increase of suction fan (20 to 100 %)

The following values apply to hot countries:
^ Refrigerant pressure < 10 bar = Suction fan OFF
^ Refrigerant pressure > 18 bar = Suction fan ON (100 %)
^ Refrigerant pressure 10 to 18 bar = Continuously linear speed increase of suction fan (20 to 100 %)
