Function
The emergency call system control unit consists of two modules,
- navigation module and
- communication module

The navigation module allows precise determination of the vehicle position. The communication module is used for handling the emergency call and telematics functions. All important data required for Telematic Alarm Identification on Demand (emergency call system) (TELE AID) emergency call, are processed centrally by these two modules. In the event of an emergency call, the emergency call telegram is generated in the form of an SMS with the aid of the built-in navigation module.

The crash data are received from the restraint systems control unit via a serial interface as well as redundantly over the Controller Area Network bus, class D (diagnosis).

The emergency call system control unit is capable of diagnosis over a diagnosis bus through the central gateway control unit (N93) with STAR DIAGNOSIS.
