Windshield Wipe, Function
Windshield wiping is activated by placing the combination switch (S4) into one of the following three settings:
Single sweep - Raise lever to first position (t). The lever returns to the neutral position when released.
Speed 1(low) - Raise lever past the first position (1).
Speed 2 (high) - Raise lever past the second position (2).
This connects the wiper motor (M6/1) to terminal 15. The motor starts running. Setting 2 (high) establishes the connection at the other motor terminal. The motor then runs at the higher speed. When the lever is returned to the neutral position, power continues to be fed to the motor via the normally closed contact of relay F1k17 (b) until the wiper arm reaches the park position, at which point the cam-operated switch decelerates the motor by creating a short-circuit (eddy current break).
