Switch-on/Switch-Off Characteristics, Function
Switch on characteristics
The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) can be switched on by pressing the "ON" button.
The unit switches on automatically when the ignition key is turned to position 2 (c. 15R), if it was switched on immediately before c. 15R was switched off. However, if the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) was switched off previously, only the digital data bus (D2B) and continuous location finding are activated when "c. 15R is switched on".
In this case, the display on the radio and navigation unit (A2/56) remains off. This ensures quick availability of the system when the "ON" button is pressed.
Each time the system is switched on, it returns to the state in which it was before it was switched off last (e.g. basic navigation menu).
NOTE: The radio and navigation unit (A2/56) is never activated via the D2B ring (e.g. by telephone or CD changer) because these components do not have any switch on authorization. The D2B interface is used depending on the vehicle equipment.
Switch off characteristics
The system can be switched off by pressing the "ON" button again or by switching off c. 15R.
The unit switches off automatically after one hour if the ignition key is not inserted into the ignition lock after switch-on.
Characteristics following interruption of power
After an interruption of the power to the radio and navigation unit
(A2/56) it is necessary to enter the 5-digit anti-theft code.
NOTE: During initial operation of the radio and navigation unit (A2/56), it is necessary to activate the anti-theft protection with the aid of the hand-held tester or STAR diagnosis. Entry of the code is only required after activation (following interruption of the power supply).
Once activated, the code can no longer be deactivated.
Switch off delay
The data (calculated route,...) for the current guidance remains stored for 12 hours after switching off the radio and navigation unit (A2/56).
