ACCUMULATORS
Disassembly/Inspection/Assembly

1. Disassemble in the order shown in the figure, referring to Disassembly Note.
2. Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly, referring to Assembly Procedure.

Disassembly Note
2-3 Accumulator Piston, N-D Accumulator Piston

Remove the accumulator pistons from transaxle case by applying compressed air through the oil passage as shown in the figure.

Inspection
Accumulator Spring

1. Measure the spring free length.
2. If not within specification, replace the spring.

Assembly Procedure

1. Apply ATF to the new O-rings and install them onto the accumulator pistons.

CAUTION: Apply even pressure to the perimeter of the accumulator pistons during installation to avoid damaging the O-rings.

2. Install the accumulator pistons and springs.

Oil Pump
Preparation

SST

Disassembly/Inspection/Assembly

1. Loosen the mounting bolts evenly in the order shown.
2. Remove the oil pump cover from the oil pump housing.

Inspection
Oil Pump Housing, Outer Rotor, Inner Rotor

1. Measure the clearance between the end of the oil pump housing and the outer rotor and inner rotor at four places along their circumferences.

Clearance
Standard : 0.02 - 0.04 mm (0.0008 - 0.0015 inch)
Maximum: 0.05 mm (0.0019 inch)

2. If not as specified, replace the pump assembly.

3. Measure the clearance between the oil pump boss and the inner rotor.

Oil clearance
Standard : 0.02 - 0.15 mm (0.0008 - 0.0059 inch)
Maximum: 0.15 mm 10.0059 inch)

4. If not within the specification, replace the oil pump assembly.

Assembly Procedure

1. Apply ATF to the new oil seal and install it to the oil pump by using the SST.

2. Apply ATF to the new D-ring and install it to the oil pump housing.
3. Apply ATF to the inner and outer rotors and install them to the oil pump housing.

4. Mount the oil pump cover onto the oil pump housing.
5. Tighten the bolts evenly and gradually in the order shown.

Tightening torque: 24 - 27 Nm (2.4 - 2.8 kgf-m, 18 - 20 ft. lbs.)

CAUTION: Do not overexpand the seal rings when installing them.

6. Apply petroleum jelly to the new seal rings and install them to the oil pump cover.

Seal ring inner diameter: 55.3 mm (2.177 inch)
