Oil Pan: Service and Repair
OIL PAN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine oil.
3. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
4. Install in the reverse order of removal.
5. Start the engine and inspect for oil leakage.
6. Inspect the oil level and add oil if necessary.
Oil Pan Removal Note
1. Remove the oil pan mounting bolts.
Caution: Pry tools can easily scratch the lower cylinder block and oil pan contact surfaces. Prying off the oil pan can also easily bend the oil pan flange. See the following instructions before removing the oil pan.
2. Insert a screwdriver or a separator tool between the cylinder block and the oil pan to separate them.
3. Remove the oil pan.
Oil Strainer Installation Note
1. Install a new gasket and the oil strainer onto the oil pump body.
2. Tighten bolts A first.
Tightening torque: 7.9 - 10.7 Nm (80 - 110 kgf-cm, 69.5 - 95.4 inch lbs.)
Oil Pan Installation Note
Caution: If the bolts are reused, remove the old sealant from the bolt threads. Tightening a bolt that has old sealant on it can cause thread damage.
1. Apply silicone sealant to the oil pan flange as shown.
Thickness: 2.0 - 3.0 mm (0.079 - 0.118 inch)
2. Install the oil pan within 5 minutes of applying the sealant.
Tightening torque
A: 19 - 25 Nm (1.9 - 2.6 kgf-m, 14 - 18 ft. lbs.)
Others: 7.9 - 10.7 Nm (80 - 110 kgf-cm, 69.5 - 95.4 inch lbs.)
