Pinpoint Test H: The Audio System Does Not Operate Correctly From The Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) (Vehicles Without Navigation)

Normal Operation

When a button is pressed on the Front Display Interface Module (FDIM), a message is sent to the Audio Control Module (ACM) via the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN). The ACM (Audio Control Module) then takes the appropriate action.

- DTC B2924 (Audio Button Stuck)- sets when the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) detects a button as active for greater than 120 seconds during normal operation, or for any duration during the self-test. When this occurs, the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) disables that particular button until the fault is cleared, or until the next ignition cycle.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Communication network concern

- FDIM (Front Display Interface Module)

PINPOINT TEST H : THE AUDIO SYSTEM DOES NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY FROM THE FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) (VEHICLES WITHOUT NAVIGATION)

H1 CHECK THE FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) DTCs

- Carry out the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) self-test.

Is DTC B2924 present?

Yes
INSTALL a new FDIM (Front Display Interface Module). REFER to Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) - Without Navigation . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to H2.

H2 OBSERVE THE FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) DISPLAY

- Turn the audio system on and observe the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) screen.

Is the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) display completely inoperative?

Yes
GO to Pinpoint Test G. Pinpoint Test G: The Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) Is Completely Inoperative (Vehicles Without Navigation)

No
GO to H3.

H3 CHECK FOR CORRECT FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) connector.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) connector and make sure it seats correctly.

- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new FDIM (Front Display Interface Module). REFER to Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) - Without Navigation . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
