Instrument Cluster and Panel Illumination
Instrument Cluster and Panel Illumination
Dimmable Illumination
The Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) and panel illumination is used to provide backlighting to the instrument panel, switches, and control components when the parking lamps are on. The level of intensity is adjustable by pressing the instrument panel dimmer switch either up to increase intensity or down to decrease intensity.
The dimmable switches and components are illuminated when the parking lamps are ON. The digital dimmer switch is a double detent rocker switch used to control all dimmable interior illuminated components, and to control the courtesy lamps. The first up detent increases dimmable backlighting intensity. The first down detent decreases dimmable backlighting intensity. The second up detent turns on the courtesy lamps. The second down detent turns the courtesy lamps off (the courtesy lamps are controlled by other features).
The dimmable backlighting components are:
- Audio Control Module (ACM) (vehicles with navigation)
- Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM)
- Front Display Interface Module (FDIM) (vehicles without navigation)
- SJB (Smart Junction Box)
- Floor shifter
- HVAC module (vehicles without navigation)
- Headlamp switch
- Instrument panel dimmer switch
- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)
- Luggage compartment lid release switch
- Rear sun shade switch (if equipped)
- Start/stop switch (if equipped)

- Steering wheel audio control switches
Fixed Illumination
The fixed (non-dimmable) illumination is used to provide backlighting to switches when the key or the start/stop switch is in the ACCESSORY or RUN position.
The fixed backlighting components are:
- Door lock control switches
- Power window control switches
- Rear heated seat switches (if equipped)
- Roof opening panel control switch (if equipped)
- Memory set switch (if equipped)
