UPDATED DOOR PANEL REMOVAL AND LATCH
INSPECTION SERVICE PROCEDURE

ISSUE
There is a new Service Procedure available to reset the front door latching system on 2006 Fusion, Milan, and Zephyr vehicles, when needed, to avoid damaging the door panel when attempting to access the door latch assembly.
ACTION
Perform the following Service Procedure to gain access to all of the screws on the inside door panel.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Hold the inside lock tab down.
2. Simultaneously press the lock and unlock buttons on the Integrated Keyhead Transmitter (IKI). This should reset the latching system and the door should work normally.
3. Remove the door panel following normal procedures in Workshop Manual, Section 501-05.
4. Proceed with normal diagnosis and repair of the door latch on affected door(s) per Workshop Manual, Section 501-14.
