Repair Procedure

1. Conduct a road test to verify the front brake squeak. Noise is usually heard after an overnight cold soak and especially when driving at low speeds (0 - 15 mph) and coming to a stop.

2. Machine both front discs with an on-car lathe to minimize run-out. Make sure that the discs are within minimum thickness.

Using a micrometer measure the disc thickness. If the disc thickness is less than the minimum replace the disc.

Standard Thickness: 30.0 mm (1.18 in.) Minimum Thickness: 27.0 mm (1.06 in.)

3. Replace the front brake pads with the new pad kit. Visually inspect the shims for heat discoloration. If discolored replace the shims.

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) applicable model and model year Repair Manual:

^ 2013 GS 350:
Brake - Brake (Front) - "Brake (Front): Front Brake (for 18 inch Front Disc Brake):

4. Road test the vehicle to confirm proper operation.
