Data List / Active Test
POWER STEERING: POWER STEERING SYSTEM: DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST
1. DATA LIST
HINT
Using the Techstream to read the Data List allows the values or states of switches, sensors, actuators and other items to be read without removing any parts. This non-intrusive inspection can be very useful because intermittent conditions or signals may be discovered before parts or wiring is disturbed. Reading the Data List information early in troubleshooting is one way to save diagnostic time.
NOTICE:
In the table below, the values listed under "Normal Condition" are reference values. Do not depend solely on these reference values when deciding whether a part is faulty or not.
(a) Warm up the engine.
(b) Turn the engine switch off.
(c) Connect the Techstream to the OBD II scan tool to the DLC3.
(d) Turn the engine switch on.
(e) Turn the Techstream on.
(f) Enter the following menus: CHASSIS / DATA LIST /
(g) According to the display on the tester, read the "DATA LIST".

HINT
* With the vehicle stopped or driving very slowly, if the steering wheel is turned repeatedly or turned to a lock position and driven for an extended period of time, the power assistance amount is decreased to prevent overheating of the motor and ECU. If this occurs, idle the engine and do not turn the steering wheel for approximately 10 minutes to return the power assistance to normal.
* If the battery has not been recharged enough or the voltage drops temporarily, the power assistance amount may be decreased and the P/S warning light may be illuminated. If this occurs, the power assistance returns to normal when the battery returns to normal. When troubleshooting malfunctions, use the Techstream to check for power load malfunctions through the electric power control system's load control history.
