Installation
1UR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL MOTOR: INSTALLATION
1. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL WITH EDU MOTOR ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Turn the camshaft timing gear's eccentric shaft keyway part counterclockwise by hand and set it to the maximum retard angle.
HINT
* When the cam of the camshaft lifts the valve, the eccentric shaft becomes difficult to turn.
* The position where the eccentric shaft stops is the maximum retard angle.
NOTICE:
When turning the eccentric shaft keyway part, do not use any tools as the keyway part may be damaged.
(b) Turn the eccentric shaft clockwise until the groove labeled A and mark labeled B are aligned as shown in the illustration.
HINT
Make sure that the groove labeled A is positioned as close as possible to the center of the mark labeled B.
(c) Install a new O-ring to the timing chain cover.
(d) Align the joint of the camshaft timing control with EDU motor and the keyway of the camshaft timing gear assembly, and install the motor with the 3 bolts.
Torque : 21 Nm (214 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)
NOTICE:
* Do not allow foreign matter to contact the oil seal face of the camshaft timing control with EDU motor (connecting surface with timing chain cover).
* When installing the camshaft timing control with EDU motor, do not use excessive force.
* Do not drop the camshaft timing control with EDU motor. If dropped, replace it.
* Do not disassemble the camshaft timing control with EDU motor. If disassembled, replace it.
HINT
* Check that [L] is printed on the label of the camshaft timing control with EDU motor.
* When installing the camshaft timing control with EDU motor, be sure to align the timing chain cover knock pin with the camshaft timing control with EDU motor pin hole.
* Install the camshaft timing control with EDU motor with the arrow facing upward.
(e) Connect the 2 camshaft timing control with EDU motor connectors and engine wire clamp.
2. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING CONTROL WITH EDU MOTOR ASSEMBLY RH

(e) Install the engine wire bracket with the bolt.
Torque : 12 Nm (122 kgf-cm, 9 ft-lbf)
(f) Connect the 2 camshaft timing control with EDU motor connectors.
3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE Installation
4. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET Installation
5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
6. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Installation
7. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Removal
8. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
HINT
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal so that the maximum retard angle of the camshaft timing control with EDU motor assembly will be learned.
9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
10. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Installation
11. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
(a) Perform initialization Repair Instruction - Initialization.
NOTICE:
Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
