INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
Perform the universal trip to clear permanent DTCs AA80F Automatic Transmission System.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0771, P0796, P2714 AND P2808)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / ECT / Trouble Codes.

(e) Read the DTCs using the Techstream.

Result:

HINT
If any other codes besides P0771, P0796, P2714 and P2808 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.

B -- CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM STALL SPEED TEST

C -- CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM STALL SPEED TEST

D -- GO TO DTC CHART Automatic Transmission System - AA80F
A -- Continue to next step.

2. CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM STALL SPEED TEST

(a) Clear the DTCs AA80F Automatic Transmission System.

HINT
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

(b) Perform the stall speed test Mechanical System Tests.

Result:

B -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT
A -- Continue to next step.

3. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SR AND SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL3

(a) Check shift solenoid valve SR.

(1) Remove shift solenoid valve SR Disassembly.

(2) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

(3) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to the terminal of the solenoid valve connector, and the negative (-) lead to the solenoid body. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating noise.

OK:

Valve moves and makes operating noise.

(b) Check shift solenoid valve SL3.

(1) Remove shift solenoid valve SL3 Disassembly.

(2) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

(3) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating noise.

OK:

Valve moves and makes operating noise.

Result:

A -- INSPECT TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY

B -- REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SR Disassembly

C -- REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL3 Disassembly

4. CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM STALL SPEED TEST

(a) Clear the DTCs AA80F Automatic Transmission System.

HINT
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

(b) Perform the stall speed test Mechanical System Tests.

Result:

A -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL3

B -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT

5. CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM STALL SPEED TEST

(a) Clear the DTCs AA80F Automatic Transmission System.

HINT
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

(b) Perform the stall speed test Mechanical System Tests.

Result:

B -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT
A -- Continue to next step.

6. CLEAR DTC AND PERFORM RUNNING TEST

(a) Clear the DTCs AA80F Automatic Transmission System.

HINT
Write down the currently output DTCs before clearing them.

(b) Start the engine, drive the vehicle and perform the inspection.

(c) Read the DTCs.

Result:

B -- INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL4
A -- Continue to next step.

7. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL3

(a) Remove shift solenoid valve SL3 Disassembly.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

(c) Connect the battery's positive (+) lead with a 21 W bulb to terminal 2 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 1 of the solenoid valve connector. Then check that the valve moves and makes an operating noise.

OK:

Valve moves and makes operating noise.

NG -- REPLACE SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SL3 Disassembly
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. INSPECT TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the transmission valve body assembly Disassembly.

OK:

There are no foreign objects on any valve.

NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the torque converter assembly AA80F Automatic Transmission.

OK:

The torque converter assembly operates normally.

NG -- REPLACE TORQUE CONVERTER ASSEMBLY Removal

OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE AUTOMATIC W/TRANSFER TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY Removal

10. INSPECT SHIFT SOLENOID VALVE SLT

(a) Remove shift solenoid valve SLT Disassembly.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
