Rear Solar Sensor Circuit - Air Conditioning System
AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM: B1428/28: Rear Solar Sensor Circuit
B1428/28 - Rear Solar Sensor Circuit
DESCRIPTION
The rear solar sensor, which is installed on the package tray trim panel, detects sunlight and controls the air conditioning in AUTO mode. The output current from the rear solar sensor varies according to the amount of sunlight. When the sunlight increases, the output current increases. As the sunlight decreases, the output current decreases. The rear junction block ECU sends the read signal to the air conditioning amplifier via the CAN communication line.
HINT
This circuit uses the CAN communication line. Before performing the inspection, check that the CAN communication system is functioning normally.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (REAR SOLAR SENSOR)
(a) Use the Data List to check if the rear solar sensor is functioning properly.
Air Conditioner
OK:
The display is as specified in the normal condition.
Result
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
C -- REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER Removal
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT REAR SOLAR SENSOR
(a) Remove the rear solar sensor Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the ohmmeter to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal 2 of the rear solar sensor.
Standard resistance:
HINT
* As the inspection light is moved away from the sensor, the voltage decreases.
* Use an incandescent light for inspection. Bring it within 30 cm (11.8 in.) of the solar sensor.
NG -- REPLACE REAR SOLAR SENSOR Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR SOLAR SENSOR - REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)
(a) Disconnect the v2 rear solar sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the S62 rear junction block ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE LUGGAGE ROOM JUNCTION BLOCK (REAR JUNCTION BLOCK ECU)
