C1526
POWER STEERING: POWER STEERING SYSTEM: C1515, C1516, C1525, C1526: Torque Sensor Zero Point Adjustment Undone
DESCRIPTION
- These DTCs do not indicate a malfunction. The power steering ECU stores these DTCs (C1515 or C1525) when it determines that motor rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration have not been performed. When the IG terminal voltage is 9 V or less, motor rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration cannot be performed.
- These DTCs do not indicate a malfunction. The power steering ECU stores these DTCs (C1516 or C1526) when it determines that motor rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration are incomplete.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Check for DTCs Power Steering System. If DTCs C1515 and C1526 are output, clear the DTCs Power Steering System.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
(a) Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Power Steering System.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
3. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Check for DTCs Power Steering System.
Result:
HINT
Replace the power steering ECU if DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times.
B -- INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT Power Steering System
C -- END
A -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK CONNECTORS
(a) Check the connection of the power steering ECU and rack and pinion power steering gear connectors.
(b) Visually inspect the terminals of the power steering ECU and rack and pinion power steering gear connectors.
Result:
B -- CONNECT CONNECTORS CORRECTLY
C -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU Removal
D -- REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (w/ VGRS) Removal
E -- REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (w/o VGRS) Removal
A -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER STEERING ECU - POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY)
(a) Disconnect the C2 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the C5 sensor connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(d) Disconnect the C4 sensor connector.
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (TORQUE SENSOR AND MOTOR ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR)
(a) Disconnect the C5 torque sensor connector.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(c) Disconnect the C4 motor rotation angle sensor connector.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
Result:
B -- REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (w/ VGRS) Removal
C -- REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (w/o VGRS) Removal
A -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU Removal
