B2416 - Height Control Sensor Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

w/ Coil Suspension:

The AFS ECU receives signals indicating the height of the vehicle from the height control sensor.

w/ Air Suspension:

The AFS ECU receives signals indicating the height of the vehicle from the suspension control ECU.

w/ Coil Suspension

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CLEAR DTC

(a) Clear the DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK DTC

(a) Check for DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B2416 output does not occur.

NG -- CHECK VEHICLE SYSTEM

OK -- NORMAL

3. CHECK VEHICLE SYSTEM

(a) Check vehicle system.

Result:





B -- CHECK DTC (AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM)
A -- Continue to next step.

4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR)

(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

AFS





OK:

Normal conditions listed above are displayed.

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR)

OK -- REPLACE AFS ECU Removal

5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR)

(a) Disconnect the A37 ECU connector.





(b) Disconnect the S69 and A4 sensor connectors.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK AFS ECU (SBR - SGR VOLTAGE)

(a) Reconnect the A37 ECU connector.





(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





NG -- REPLACE AFS ECU Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

7. INSPECT FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.





(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the batteries to terminal 3, and the negative (-) lead from the batteries to terminal 1.

(c) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.

Standard voltage:





NG -- REPLACE FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

8. INSPECT REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.





(b) Connect the positive (+) lead from the batteries to terminal 3, and the negative (-) lead from the batteries to terminal 1.

(c) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.

Standard voltage:





NG -- REPLACE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

9. INSPECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE

(a) Disconnect the S69 and A wire connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE Removal

OK -- REPLACE AFS ECU Removal

10. CHECK DTC (AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM)

(a) Check for DTC Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Result





B -- GO TO AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM Air Suspension System
A -- Continue to next step.

11. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (AFS ECU)

(a) Using the Techstream, read the Data List.

NG -- CHECK SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU

OK -- REPLACE AFS ECU Removal

12. CHECK SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard voltage:





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - SUSPENSION CONTROL ECU)

(a) Disconnect the A37 and A39 ECU connectors.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE AFS ECU Removal
