B2278 - Engine Switch Circuit Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
This DTC is output when: 1) a malfunction is detected between the main body ECU and the engine switch; or 2) either of the switches inside the engine switch is malfunctioning.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ENGINE SWITCH)
(a) Use the Data List to check if the engine switch is functioning properly.
Main Body
OK:
ON appears on the screen.
NG -- INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK ENGINE SWITCH (SWITCH CONDITION)
(a) Ensure the key is inside the cabin.
(b) Check that the power source mode changes as shown below each time the engine switch is pushed.
OK:
off -> on (ACC) -> on (IG) -> off
NG -- GO TO POWER SOURCE MODE DOES NOT CHANGE Power Source Mode does not Change
OK -- SYSTEM IS OK
3. INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH
(a) Remove the engine switch Removal.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPLACE ENGINE SWITCH Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND)
(a) Disconnect the L36 engine switch connector.
(b) Disconnect the L13 main body ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE MAIN BODY ECU
