SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1920/77-B1923/77: Short in Rear Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit

B1920/77 - Short in Rear Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit
B1921/77 - Open in Rear Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit
B1922/77 - Short to GRD in Rear Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit

B1923/77 - Short to B+ in Rear Pretensioner Squib RH Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The rear pretensioner squib RH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and the rear seat outer belt RH.

This circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.

Theses DTCs are recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear pretensioner squib RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

HINT
* Perform the simulation method by selecting "check mode" (signal check) with the Techstream Check Mode Procedure.
* After selecting "check mode" (signal check), perform the simulation method by wiggling each connector of the airbag system or driving the vehicle on various types of roads Diagnosis System.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK REAR PRETENSIONER SQUIB RH

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect the connectors from the rear seat outer belt RH.

(d) Connect the white wire side of SST (resistance: 2.1 Ohms) to connector C.

CAUTION:
Never connect a tester to the rear seat outer belt RH (rear pretensioner squib RH) for measurement, as this may lead to a serious injury due to airbag deployment.

NOTICE:
* Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting SST.
* Insert SST straight into the terminals of the connector.

SST : 09843-18061

(e) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(f) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(g) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(h) Turn the engine switch off.

(i) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(j) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B1920, B1921, B1922, B1923 or 77 is not output.

HINT
Codes other than DTC B1920, B1921, B1922, B1923 and 77 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

OK -- REPLACE REAR SEAT PRETENSIONER SQUIB RH Components

2. CHECK CONNECTORS

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Disconnect SST from connector C.

(d) Check that the floor wire No. 2 connector (on the rear seat outer belt RH side) is not damaged.

OK:

The lock button is not disengaged, or the claw of the lock is not deformed or damaged.

NG -- REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (REAR PRETENSIONER SQUIB RH CIRCUIT)

(a) Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor.

(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:

(e) Turn the engine switch off.

(f) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(g) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

(h) Release the activation prevention mechanism built into connector B.

(i) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:

NG -- REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR

(a) Connect the connectors to the rear seat outer belt RH and the center airbag sensor.

(b) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(d) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(e) Turn the engine switch off.

(f) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(g) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

OK:

DTC B1920, B1921, B1922, B1923 or 77 is not output.

HINT
Codes other than DTC B1920, B1921, B1922, B1923 and 77 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

NG -- REPLACE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY Components

OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Diagnosis System
