B1635/24 - Rear Airbag Sensor LH Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The rear airbag sensor LH or RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.

If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.

DTC B1630/23 or B1635/24 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor LH or RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(c) Turn the engine switch off.

(d) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(e) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

B -- CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH
C -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH





(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(g) Turn the engine switch off.

(h) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(i) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

HINT
Codes other than DTC B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not released to this check.

(j) Turn the engine switch off.

(k) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(l) Return the rear airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

3. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH





(a) Turn the engine switch off.

(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.

(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(g) Turn the engine switch off.

(h) Turn the engine switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(i) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Codes other than DTC B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not released to this check.

(j) Turn the engine switch off.

(k) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(l) Return the rear airbag sensor RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
