Removal





FRONT SUSPENSION: FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER: REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.
* The following procedure is for the LH side.

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

2. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR WIRE

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front speed sensor wire from the front shock absorber with coil spring.





NOTICE:
Be careful not to deform the bracket of the front shock absorber with coil spring when removing the bolt.

(b) Disconnect the front speed sensor connector.

3. SEPARATE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ HID Headlight System)

(a) Remove the nut and separate the height control sensor link sub-assembly.





4. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 nuts and front stabilizer link sub-assembly from the front lower suspension arm assembly.





HINT
If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon wrench (6 mm) to hold the stud bolt.

5. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Replacement

6. REMOVE FRONT DISC

for Floating Type Caliper Removal

for Opposed Type Caliper Removal

7. SEPARATE STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the steering knuckle with axle assembly.





8. REMOVE STEERING KNUCKLE WITH AXLE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the clip and loosen the nut.





NOTICE:
Do not remove the nut.

(b) Rotate the steering knuckle as shown in the illustration.

(c) Remove the nut and install 2 spacers (SST spacer B) onto the front upper suspension arm assembly as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
As SST may be damaged, make sure that the clearance between the arm and spacers is less than 1 mm (0.0394 in.).

(d) Using SST, remove the steering knuckle from the front upper suspension arm assembly as shown in the illustration.

CAUTION:
Apply grease to the threads and end of the SST bolt.

NOTICE:
* Be sure to tighten the string firmly to secure SST to the front upper suspension arm to prevent SST from falling off.
* Install SST so that A and B are parallel.
* Be sure to place a wrench on the part indicated in the illustration.
* Do not damage the front upper suspension arm dust cover.

HINT
If the steering knuckle spacer has come off, replace the steering knuckle with a new one.

9. SEPARATE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

(a) Support the front lower suspension arm assembly with a jack.

NOTICE:
Be sure to place a wooden block between the jack and the front lower suspension arm assembly to avoid damage.

(b) Remove the bolt while holding the nut.





NOTICE:
Do not remove the bolt.

10. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

(a) Loosen the lock nut of the front shock absorber.





NOTICE:
* Do not remove the lock nut.
* Loosen the lock nut only when disassembling the front shock absorber with coil spring.

(b) Remove the 3 nuts on the upper side of the front suspension support.





(c) Remove the front No. 3 spring support reinforcement.

(d) Remove the bolt on the lower side of the front shock absorber.

(e) Slowly lower the jack and remove the front shock absorber with coil spring.

11. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY

(a) Install SST to the front coil spring so that the 2 hooks on SST are fully extended.





(b) Fully compress the coil spring with SST.

NOTICE:
Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage SST.

(c) Remove the lock nut.

(d) Remove the front suspension support assembly with the front upper coil spring insulator.

(e) Remove the front upper coil spring insulator from the front suspension support assembly.





(f) Remove the front spring bumper from the front suspension support assembly.

(g) Remove the front coil spring and SST.

(h) Remove SST from the front coil spring.

NOTICE:
Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage SST.

(i) Remove the front lower coil spring insulator.
