C1526
POWER ASSIST SYSTEMS: POWER STEERING SYSTEM: C1515, C1516, C1525, C1526: Torque Sensor Zero Point Adjustment Undone
DESCRIPTION
- These DTCs do not indicate a malfunction. The power steering ECU stores these DTCs (C1515 or C1525) when it determines that motor rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration have not been performed. When the IG terminal voltage is 9 V or less, motor rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration cannot be performed.
- These DTCs do not indicate a malfunction. The power steering ECU stores these DTCs (C1516 or C1526) when it determines that motor rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration are incomplete.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes. If DTCs C1515 and C1526 are output, clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
2. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
(a) Initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Programming and Relearning.
NEXT -- Continue to next step.
3. RECONFIRM DTC
(a) Check for DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
Result:
HINT
- *1: The power steering ECU assembly must be replaced if DTCs are still output even after initialize the rotation angle sensor and calibrate the torque sensor zero point.
- *2: Perform the rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration again if DTCs are still output even after the initialization and calibration is performed 1 or 2 times.
B -- PERFORM ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR INITIALIZATION AND TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT CALIBRATION Programming and Relearning
C -- END
A -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK CONNECTORS
(a) Check the connection of the power steering ECU assembly and power steering gear assembly connectors.
(b) Visually inspect the terminals of the power steering ECU assembly and power steering gear assembly connectors.
Result:
B -- CONNECT CONNECTORS CORRECTLY
C -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY Removal
D -- REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY Removal
A -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY - POWER STEERING
GEAR ASSEMBLY)
(a) Disconnect the C4 connector from the power steering ECU assembly.
(b) Disconnect the C1 connector from the torque sensor.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
(d) Disconnect the C2 connector from the motor rotation angle sensor.
(e) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY (TORQUE SENSOR AND MOTOR ROTATION ANGLE
SENSOR)
(a) Disconnect the C1 connector from the torque sensor.
(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:
Text in Illustration
(c) Disconnect the C2 connector from the motor rotation angle sensor.
(d) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard Resistance:

NOTICE:
If replacing the power steering gear assembly, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point Programming and Relearning.
NG -- REPLACE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY Removal
