Heated Glass Element Switch: Testing and Inspection

WINDSHIELD / WINDOWGLASS: WINDSHIELD DEICER SWITCH: INSPECTION

1. INSPECT FRONT WIPER DEICER SWITCH

(a) Check wire harness and connector.

(1) Disconnect the front wiper deicer switch connector.





(2) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





Standard Resistance:

(b) Check that the front wiper deicer switch operate.

(1) Reconnect the front wiper deicer connector.





(2) Measure the voltage and resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:

If the result is not as specified, replace the front wiper deicer switch.

(c) Check that the indicator light illuminates.

(1) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(2) Make sure that the indicator light illuminates when the front wiper deicer switch is turned on, and then goes off after 12 to 18 minutes elapse.

OK:

The indicator light goes off.

(d) Check that the illumination illuminates.

(1) Make sure that the illumination illuminates when the headlight dimmer switch is turned from off to tail or head.

OK:

The illumination illuminates.
