A760H AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CLUTCH DRUM AND INPUT SHAFT ASSEMBLY: DISASSEMBLY

1. FIX CLUTCH DRUM AND INPUT SHAFT ASSEMBLY

(a) Place the oil pump onto the torque converter clutch, and then place the clutch drum and input shaft assembly onto the oil pump.





2. REMOVE REVERSE CLUTCH HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the snap ring from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly and the input shaft.





(b) Remove the reverse clutch hub sub-assembly with the reverse clutch reaction sleeve, clutch cushion plate, reverse clutch flange, 5 No. 3 clutch discs and 4 No. 3 clutch plates from the forward clutch hub sub-assembly.





3. REMOVE REVERSE CLUTCH REACTION SLEEVE

(a) Remove the reverse clutch reaction sleeve from the reverse clutch hub sub-assembly.





4. REMOVE NO. 3 CLUTCH DISC

(a) Remove the clutch cushion plate, reverse clutch flange, 4 No. 3 clutch plates and 5 No. 3 clutch discs from the reverse clutch hub sub-assembly.





5. INSPECT NO. 3 CLUTCH DISC Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

6. INSPECT REVERSE CLUTCH HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

7. REMOVE FORWARD CLUTCH HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the forward clutch hub sub-assembly and clutch hub thrust washer from the coast clutch hub sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the 2 thrust needle roller bearings from the forward clutch hub sub-assembly.





8. INSPECT FORWARD CLUTCH HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

9. REMOVE COAST CLUTCH HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the coast clutch hub sub-assembly from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





10. INSPECT UNDERDRIVE ONE WAY CLUTCH ASSEMBLY Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

11. REMOVE UNDERDRIVE ONE WAY CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the underdrive one way clutch assembly, clutch hub thrust washer and input shaft rear thrust bearing race from the coast clutch hub.





12. REMOVE NO. 1 CLUTCH DISC

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the hole snap ring.





(b) Remove the flange, cushion plate, 4 No. 1 clutch discs and 4 No. 1 clutch plates from the input shaft.





13. INSPECT NO. 1 CLUTCH DISC Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

14. REMOVE COAST CLUTCH DISC

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the hole snap ring.





(b) Remove the coast clutch flange, 3 coast clutch discs and 3 coast clutch plates from the input shaft.





15. INSPECT COAST CLUTCH DISC Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

16. REMOVE INPUT SHAFT

(a) Remove the thrust needle roller bearing from the input shaft.





(b) Remove the input shaft from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





(c) Remove the thrust needle roller bearing and thrust bearing race from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





17. REMOVE INPUT SHAFT OIL SEAL RING

(a) Remove the 4 input shaft oil seal rings from the input shaft.





18. REMOVE NO. 1 CLUTCH BALANCER

(a) Place SST on the No. 1 clutch balancer, and compress the return spring with a press.

(b) Using the SST, remove the shaft snap ring.

(c) Remove the No. 1 clutch balancer and forward clutch return spring sub-assembly from the input shaft.





(d) Remove the O-ring from the No. 1 clutch balancer.





19. INSPECT FORWARD CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

20. REMOVE FORWARD CLUTCH PISTON SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Holding the input shaft, apply compressed air (392 kPa, 4.0 kgf/cm2, 57 psi) to the input shaft to remove the forward clutch piston sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the coast clutch piston from the forward clutch piston sub-assembly.





(c) Remove the O-ring from the input shaft.

21. REMOVE REVERSE CLUTCH FLANGE

(a) Remove the reverse clutch flange from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





22. REMOVE NO. 2 DIRECT CLUTCH DISC (for 4GR-FSE)

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 hole snap rings from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the reverse clutch flange, 4 No. 2 clutch plates and 4 No. 2 direct clutch discs from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





23. REMOVE NO. 2 DIRECT CLUTCH DISC (for 2GR-FSE)

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 hole snap rings from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the reverse clutch flange, 5 No. 2 clutch plates and 5 No. 2 direct clutch discs from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





24. INSPECT NO. 2 DIRECT CLUTCH DISC Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

25. REMOVE NO. 3 CLUTCH BALANCER

(a) Place SST on the No. 3 clutch balancer, and compress the return spring with a press.

(b) Using SST, remove the snap ring.

(c) Remove the No. 3 clutch balancer.

26. REMOVE REVERSE CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the reverse clutch return spring sub-assembly and O-ring from the reverse clutch piston sub-assembly.





27. INSPECT REVERSE CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly

28. REMOVE REVERSE CLUTCH PISTON SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the reverse clutch piston sub-assembly from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the O-ring from the reverse clutch piston sub-assembly.





(c) Remove the O-ring from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





29. REMOVE DIRECT CLUTCH PISTON SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Place SST on the direct clutch piston sub-assembly, and compress the return spring with a press.

(b) Using SST, remove the shaft snap ring.

(c) Using 2 screwdrivers, remove the direct clutch piston sub-assembly from the reverse clutch drum sub-assembly.





(d) Remove the No. 2 clutch balancer and direct clutch return spring sub-assembly from the direct clutch piston sub-assembly.





(e) Remove the 2 O-rings from the direct clutch piston sub-assembly.





30. INSPECT DIRECT CLUTCH RETURN SPRING SUB-ASSEMBLY Clutch Drum and Input Shaft Assembly
