DESCRIPTION

The sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (sliding roof ECU) receives signals from the sliding roof switch and activates the sliding roof. However, fuse, wire harness or sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly (sliding roof ECU) malfunctions may cause the sliding roof system to stop operating.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
* When the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly is reinstalled or replaced, the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly must be initialized Initialization.
* Since the sliding roof system has functions that use BEAN communication, first confirm that there is no malfunction in the communication system by inspecting the BEAN communication functions in accordance with the How to Proceed with Troubleshooting procedure. Then, conduct the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE

1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SLIDING ROOF OPERATION)

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Perform the Active Test according to the display on the Techstream.

Slide Roof:





OK
Sliding roof operates normally.

NG -- INSPECT FUSE (S/ROOF, ECU-IG LH)

OK -- PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures

2. INSPECT FUSE (S/ROOF, ECU-IG LH)

(a) Remove the S/ROOF fuse from the cowl side J/B LH.

(b) Remove the ECU-IG LH fuse from the cowl side J/B LH.

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FUSE
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK SLIDING ROOF ECU (POWER SOURCE)

(a) Disconnect the R6 sliding roof ECU connector.





(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard voltage:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK SLIDING ROOF ECU (POWER SOURCE)

(a) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard voltage:





NG -- INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK SLIDING ROOF ECU (GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the R6 sliding roof ECU connector.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

OK -- REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF ECU) Removal

6. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

(a) Remove the map light assembly (sliding roof switch assembly).





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard resistance:





NG -- REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF SWITCH ASSEMBLY)

OK -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
