P2610

4GR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P2610: ECM / PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance
P2610 - ECM / PCM Internal Engine Off Timer Performance

DTC SUMMARY

DESCRIPTION

The soak timer operates after the engine switch is turned off. When a certain amount of time has elapsed after turning the engine switch off, the soak timer activates the ECM to perform malfunction checks witch can only be performed after the engine is stopped. The soak timer is built into the ECM.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

1. While the engine is running, the ECM monitors the synchronization of the soak timer and CPU clock. If these two are not synchronized, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction, illuminates the MIL and stores the DTC.

2. If the soak timer activates the ECM even though only a short amount of time has elapsed since the engine switch was turned off, or if the soak timer does not activate the ECM even though a considerable amount of time has elapsed since the engine switch was turned off, the ECM determines that the soak timer is malfunctioning, illuminates the MIL and stores a DTC the next time the engine switch is turned on (IG).

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN

1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.

6. Start the engine.

7. Idle the engine for 10 minutes or more.

8. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.

9. Read the pending DTC.

HINT
- If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.

10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.

11. Input the DTC: P2610.

12. Check the DTC judgment result.

HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.

13. If the test result is INCOMPLETE or N/A and no pending DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT
- DTC P2610 is set if an internal ECM problem is detected. Diagnostic procedures are not required. ECM replacement is required.
- Read freeze frame data using Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air/fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction Freeze Frame Data.

PROCEDURE

1. REPLACE ECM

(a) Replace the ECM Removal.

NEXT -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2610)

(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Clear DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

(e) Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.

(f) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(g) Turn the Techstream on

(h) Start the engine and wait for 10 minutes or more.

(i) Enter the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes / Pending.

(j) If no pending DTC is displayed, the repair has been successfully completed.
