P2009
4GR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P2009, P2010: Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit Low (Bank 1)
P2010 - Intake Manifold Runner Control Circuit High (Bank 1)
DESCRIPTION
The ECM activates the intake air control valve actuator for Swirl Control Valve (SCV), which opens and closes swirl control valve. The ECM activates the DC motor based on engine speed, coolant temperature, engine load signals and other conditions.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
When the voltage of the DC motor (intake air control valve actuator) deviates from the standard range, the ECM determines that a malfunction has occurred and sets a DTC.

CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
3. Turn the Techstream on.
4. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
5. Turn the engine switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
6. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
7. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / All Data / Coolant Temp.
8. Check that the coolant temperature is 60°C (140°F) or higher.
9. Wait approximately 10 seconds.
10. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
11. Read the pending DTC.
HINT
- If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
12. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
13. Input the DTC: P2009 or P2010.
14. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
15. If the judgment result is INCOMPLETE or N/A and no DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
Read freeze frame data using Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air/fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction Freeze Frame Data.
PROCEDURE
1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY (SWIRL CONTROL VALVE OPERATION)
(a) Inspect the intake air surge tank assembly Intake System.
NG -- REPLACE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ACTUATOR)
(a) Disconnect the E6 ECM connector.
(b) Disconnect the E53 intake air control valve actuator.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):
Standard resistance (Check for short):
(d) Reconnect the ECM connector.
(e) Reconnect the intake air control valve actuator.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK WHETHER DTC OUTPUT RECURS (DTC P2009 OR P2010)
(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Turn the Techstream on.
(d) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(e) Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
(f) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(g) Turn the Techstream on.
(h) Wait approximately 10 seconds.
(i) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
(j) Read the DTCs.
Result:
B -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS Check for Intermittent Problems
A -- REPLACE ECM Removal
