P0192
4GR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P0190, P0192, P0193: Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit
P0193 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input
DESCRIPTION
The fuel pressure sensor is installed on the delivery pipe. The sensor changes fuel pressure to an electrical signal and sends the signal to the ECM. Then the ECM controls the feedback of the pump discharge to maintain the fuel's target pressure between 4000 and 13000 kPa (40.8 and 132.6 kgf/cm, 580 and 1886 psi). If the sensor output stops, the ECM will stop the high pressure side fuel pump and supply fuel using the low pressure side fuel pump.
HINT
After confirming DTC P0190, use Techstream to confirm the fuel pressure in the delivery pipe by following menus Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Fuel Press.
MONITOR DESCRIPTION
These DTCs are set if the fuel pressure sensor output voltage is out of the standard range. The DTCs stand for an open or short malfunction of the sensor circuit.
If these DTCs are set, the ECM enters fail-safe mode and limits the engine power. Fail-safe mode continues until the engine switch is turned off.

COMPONENT OPERATING RANGE
CONFIRMATION DRIVING PATTERN
1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
2. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
3. Clear the DTCs (even if no DTCs are stored, perform the clear DTC procedure) Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
5. Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
6. Wait 3 seconds or more.
7. Start the engine.
8. Idle the engine for 10 seconds [A].
9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Trouble Codes.
10. Read the pending DTC [B].
HINT
- If a pending DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If a pending DTC is not output, perform the following procedure.
11. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Utility / All Readiness.
12. Input the DTC: P0190, P0192 or P0193.
13. Check the DTC judgment result.
HINT
- If the judgment result shows NORMAL, the system is normal.
- If the judgment result shows ABNORMAL, the system has a malfunction.
- If the judgment result shows INCOMPLETE or N/A, perform steps [A] and [B] again.
14. If no DTC is output, perform a universal trip and check for permanent DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
HINT
- If a permanent DTC is output, the system is malfunctioning.
- If no permanent DTC is output, the system is normal.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
- If different DTCs related to different systems that have terminal E2 as the ground terminal are output simultaneously, terminal E2 may have an open circuit.
- Read freeze frame data using Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air/fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction Freeze Frame Data.
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL PRESSURE)
(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Turn Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Fuel Press.
(e) Read the values.
